Carlton, one of our guests last week, sent us these pictures of Erin and Shay preparing breakfast.
Erin is laying out strips of bacon.
Shay is cutting parchment paper for a walnut cake.
This is a picture from Carlton’s Suite with the roses he gave his wife for their anniversary. They are still blooming beautifully in our Garden Cafe – almost 1 week later. In the foreground is their personally autographed copy of La Cucina Anna Maria: Good Life Recipes from San Juan Island and in the background the Inn’s cozy monogrammed bathrobes.

Erin, our new innkeeper, and her two girls are settling in nicely to their new home in Friday Harbor. It is not easy getting two 2 year olds in the same photo. (Maya, Erin and Lily from left to right.)

Lodging San Juan Islands – Innkeepers seek underwater retreat

Dave and I enjoy taking our annual winter retreat underwater. We spent last week in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico diving, diving, and diving. This was the first week in almost a year that we were away from the Inn not tethered to a phone or email. It was weird not making breakfast each morning for guests. The highlights of our 18 scuba dives were the ones where we interacted with whale sharks, sea lions, hammerheads. The later of the three were rather skiddish thereby limiting our views. Each night, we enjoyed great Mexican food and sampled different queso – cheeses. We were hard pressed though to find a chille rellenos as good as Elsa’s, our head housekeeper.
