Sailing on San Juan Island is just one of the ways to spend your days on the water. There are many other vessels – ferries, kayaks, dive boats, fishing boats, cruisers, or whale watching boats.
The variety of boats and cruises available are exciting: high masted schooner, six-pack, classic 1932 or 1924 historic crafts, and so much more. Some captains are well versed in island history, and most have an on-board naturalist. Visit these websites and choose which suits your sailing pleasure:
For those who prefer a slower pace with the romance of traditional sail, Schooners North offers half-day, full-day, and multi-day cruises aboard their two classic wooden windjammers. With on-board naturalists and experienced, friendly crew, you can help hoist a sail or man the helm, or simply relax and let the rhythm of the sea captivate you.
San Juan Classic Day Sailing offers custom, private and shared sailing charters out of Friday Harbor. They offer 3 hour, ½ day and full day sailing charters to and from many of the islands that make up the San Juan Archipelago. They provide knowledge of local wildlife, weather phenomenons, and even historical island lore along the way. Their sunset sail is a perfect way to unwind as they serve wine and hors d’oeuvres.
There are a number of other companies that service the island and offer full and bareboat charters.
