Guests always ask what to bring! Layers! The weather on the island changes throughout the day. We always say if you don’t like the weather, wait 10 minutes or drive around the island. You are likely to find a microclimate with weather more to your liking. It is not unusual to have a 20-30 degree temperature fluctuation in a 12-hour period. If you are planning activities on the water, prepare for temperatures at least 10 degrees cooler than on land. A rain slicker or wind breaker as well as waterproof pants for kayaking will come in handy.
True to island style, there is no restaurant or theater that requires dressing up – northwest casual is the norm, and jeans are accepted anywhere. You won’t need formal attire unless you are attending a private event.
What to bring
- Sun screen
- Camera. (Many of the locals always carry a camera because you never know when you will see an eagle overhead or a double rainbow.)
The Harrison House Suites has a complementary guest laundry on site so consider packing lite.
